The Premier Greyhound Sales team head to Hove on Monday 14th October 2024 for the latest instalment of their hugely popular greyhound sales. A super collection of young greyhounds the majority of which will arrive in the UK unraced will be on offer. Gates at Hove will be open at 9am with trials set to begin at approximately 10am. Food and drink facilities will be available throughout the day for those in attendance. The catalogue as usual is previewed by Mark Pierrepont –
BALLYDOYLE ROSS – Super unraced August 2023 dog pup by Droopys Jet and from the second litter of Ballydoyle Rossa who was a strong running open class performer on the track and of course reached the final of one of the greatest Oaks in living memory where she finished a superb fourth in behind the superstar lady Susie Sapphire. Rossa’s maiden litter to Good News have been winning some real nice races on the track already including Westway Rossa who has a super 2844 on the card at Dundalk. This litter to Droopys Jet have looked exceptional from an early stage and a big on the day run is expected from a highly promising and very well bred youngster.
FAROUT CIAN – Super early paced June 2022 son of Dorotas Wildcat who knows his job and is already a two time race winner on Irish soil including a career best to date of 2944 around Youghal on his last start which shows he’s still very much on an upward curve. Ready to get straight into action for his new connections and with his early pace it shouldn’t be too long before he’s getting the job done.
HOFFAS GIRL – Unraced April 2023 daughter of Coolavanny Hoffa and from the second litter of Another Blonde whose maiden litter to Droopys Sydney who have been competing regularly in top grade and open class. Just the sole trial to date on the card of Hoffas Girl in which she posted 1750 around Waterford. Plenty to come off that as she learns her trade and looks like making into a real nice sort who should quickly progress through the grades at whichever track she ends up.
ATLANTA BRAVE – Just one race on the card of this March 2023 son of Ballymac Cashout out of the well proven producer of open class offspring String Of Pearls who memorably reached the final of the Barrys Tea 750 at Cork back in 2018. This lad had shown super promise in his qualifying trials posting 1818 around Newbridge and 2965 around Kilkenny in just the first and second official trials of his life respectively. His debut came at Shelbourne Park last month on a day when it rained non stop resulting in a track that was officially given as a second slow. This strapping 79lb was beaten 12 lengths in a calculated 2907 however it’s no exaggeration to say that the vast majority of this was left in the traps as he absolutely walked out and trailed the field from the word go. Given the conditions this promising pup showed great heart to chase the field and it’s plain to see that once he gets his trapping together he firmly falls into the category of ‘could be anything’.
MOVE OVER EILY – Unraced June 2023 daughter of Ballhimikin Jet out of Florentis who reached the semi final of the Irish Oaks in 2022 and counts the likes of One Time only the Irish Laurels Champion of 2021 and of course a superb winner of the Irish Champion Stakes in 2022. Just the sole trial on the card of Eily where she posted 3019 around Clonmel and with plenty of improvement to come she’s sure to attract plenty of attention.
MOANTEEN SHERGAR – Unraced full brother to Eily detailed above who ran out a wide margin winner of the very first official trial of his life around Clonmel early in August when posting a promising 1697.
DROOPYS INSTINCT – Unraced August 2023 dog pup from the famed Droopys establishment. A son of Doolin Duke out of Droopys Winifred who hails from the Coolavanny Pet dam line and is a full unraced sister to superstars of the sport Ballymac Finn and Maries Wedding. This youngster has been showcasing plenty of pace back home during the rearing and early schooling stages and the team believe he looks tailor made for the sharper courses here in the UK where his searing early pace should serve him well.
DROOPYS FRUITY – Stunning April 2023 lady by Serene Ace out of Droopys Berry who of course is a well proven producer of top open and competition class performers. Amongst her offspring are the likes of Droopys Pivotel a super open race winner at sales venue Hove recently and of course the sensational 2021 Puppy Classic Champion Bubbly Apache to name just a couple. Fruity has had her first season back in June so is just coming to hand nicely with the team reporting her to possess an extremely likeable attitude to her racing and an ability to see out any four bend trip here in the UK well.
HORGAN – Unraced April 2023 son of Confident Rankin out of Taylor Kate who was a three time top grade winner on the track around the tough Thurles circuit and has been producing some real nice top grade and open class sorts in her litters to date. With a strong running 2970 trial already on the card at Limerick this youngster looks certain to be competing in the higher grades and very likely the galloping tracks of the UK including sales venue Hove will suit ideally.
KILMOYLEY JOHN – Lovely looking fawn dog by Slippy Cian who has very much looked in need of the experience in his three career races to date. Just a January 2023 whelp however so plenty of time to improve and though he looks like making into just a moderate enough grader he’s sure to pay his way.
GOOD EXTRA – This April 2023 son of Good Cody out of Ballyhimikin Hun is just one of two offerings sent over to the Hove sale by the respected Kennedy team but the reports from the team are that they are both pups of great class and potential. The maiden litter of Hun to Dromana Bucko contained open class performers however the reports from an early stage have been that this second litter to Good Cody are a fair bit above them in every regard. Just the sole trial on the card of Good Extra to date which came when beating off his sole rival at Clonmel in a time of 1713. A real nice run is expected on sales day from this lad and he’s sure to prove extremely popular with pups from the Kennedy team regularly going on to do well for their new connections.
GOOD RAINBOW – Full sister to Good Extra detailed above and what a prospect this young lady is. Rainbow has been displaying blistering early pace in her schooling trials to date and did so once again when posting a super 1662 at Clonmel when winning what is so far the only trial on her card. Make no mistake about it this lady is an open class prospect held in the highest esteem. If you’re keen to add a bitch of real quality to your kennel for what promises to be a hugely successful track career before heading into what could be a successful brood career of her own later in life then Rainbow could very well be the one for you.
FREFFANS SWIFT – Just the four races on the card of this December 2022 daughter of Malachi and though yet to get off the mark she’s shown a fair degree of promise including when posting 2954 around Newbridge on career debut back in July. One for the graded scene and will be well suited by a fresh start here in the UK where she shouldn’t be too long in getting off the mark.
FREFFANS DAISY – Full sister to Swift detailed above and again just the four races on the card but Daisy showed that there is plenty left to come both from herself and the litter as a whole when getting off the mark last time out. After missing the break badly Daisy then struggled to get a run until the halfway point however from that moment onwards she really began to open up coming through the field strongly to win by an ever increasing 3 lengths in 2931 at Newbridge and pulling way clear to the pick up in the style of a stayer in the making. Granted a better break it wouldn’t be too long before this lady is breaking the 29 second barrier on Irish soil and she looks a real nice type who is anticipated to put up a real decent effort on sales day.
LIGHTFOOT HARRY – Promising unraced February 2023 dog pup by Ice On Fire out of Lightfoot Marie who has produced some real nice top grade and open class sorts in her litters to date and early reports are that this litter could be the best yet. Weighing in for just the second official trial of his life recently at Limerick at 87lb it’s clear to see that this strapping pup can only improve for a long time to come as he matures into his substantial frame. Despite this lack of experience he still posted 2925. A very likeable sort who should be well suited by the galloping tracks here in the UK including sales venue Hove.
LEAHYS BOLT – Lightly raced August 2022 son of Pestana who has yet to get off the mark in five career races to date but did win a trial on his last start. A much sought after wide runner so even at a moderate level will more than pay his way at any track here in the UK.
ALWAYS HOFFA – Unraced May 2023 daughter of Coolavanny Hoffa out of Black Eyed Molly who was an open race winner over both four and six bends here in the UK and produced plenty of race winners in her maiden litter to Pestana including Last Dance Capri a regular A1 performer around Sunderland. Not a mark on this young lady’s card so her on the day trial will be of keen interest.
TAYLORSTOWN JET – Unraced May 2023 bitch pup by Ballyhimikin Jet out of Yahoo Diva who produced some nice types in her maiden litter to Laughil Blake including Coolavanny Derek a regular winner in A1 and open class around Romford. One for both the present on the track but hailing from the famed Cabra Dancer dam line there’s little doubt she has brood prospects in the years to come.
SLANEYSIDE MASON – The ‘Slaneyside’ prefix greyhounds are always given plenty of time before hitting the track so don’t worry too much about this lad being unraced as a November 2022 whelp. The sole trial on his card saw him running out a half length winner over his brother ‘Peter’ in 1745 at Clonmel. The pair once again line up together here in trial 10 of Hove sales day.
SLANEYSIDE PETER – Unraced November 2022 whelp detailed above alongside full brother ‘Mason’.
DROOPYS BREEZY – August 2023 bitch pup from the Droopys team and like most from that establishment arrives here in the UK without a single mark on her card. Has only been very lightly schooled around Kilkenny with a few sprint trials for fitness and experience so whatever this young lady does on sales day can confidently be expected to be improved upon massively over the coming weeks and months. A member of the Doolin Duke litter out of Droopys Winifred she’s sure to prove very popular.
DROOPYS DETTORI – Unraced August 2023 son of Dorotas Wildcat out of Droopys Alyssa who was a novice open class winner on the track around Waterford in 2023 and competed in the Irish Oaks at Shelbourne Park later that year. Alyssa is a daughter of Droopys Berry and that kind of breeding speaks for itself. The team at home report Dettori to have been schooling exceptionally and he cannot fail to move quickly through the grades once he gets up and running for his new connections.
BALLINABOLA JUNE – Raw youngster just an April 2023 lady with just the sole race currently on her card. Finishing a good second in behind a really decent 2894 winner at Enniscorthy this lady showcased that she without any doubt will be plying her trade here in the UK in the upper grades at a minimum. Despite not gaining the clearest of passages and showing obvious signs of greenness June backed up the promise shown in the first four bend trial of her life when she posted 2933 around the same venue. June is a result of the exciting cross between Ballyhimikin Jet and Ballinabola Ruby who was an A1 and open class winner on the track and being a full sister to the superstar Ballinabola Ed this obviously makes June an exciting brood prospect of the future.
BALLINABOLA JACK – May 2023 son of Ballyhimikin Jet out of Dolls Lady who needs absolutely no introduction as a brood being the mother of many open and competition class performers including the sensational Ballinabola Ed. Jack has just two races currently on his card and despite defeat he showed great promise for the future in both in heat and semi final of a decent unraced competition around Shelbourne Park. This young lad is coming forward with each run and looks like making into a very nice individual here in the UK for new connections.
FAYPOINT SYDNEY (EX – LITTLE SYDNEY) – This January 2022 son of Dorotas Wildcat and Minor Racer is a ready made performer for the open class scene here in England where his excellent all-round is sure to see him winning plenty. A two time winner in open class in Ireland with wins on the card of 2841 around Cork and 2871 at Shelbourne Park although that effort was bettered just a week later when finishing a good second behind National Puppy Finalist Scooby Countess in 2859. There is nothing for new connections to do with this lad he will arrive fit and well and ready and eager to get straight into work at open class level.
DORKING WANDERER – Unraced April 2023 son if Romeo Magico and from the maiden litter of Newinn Nifty who was a top open class performer on the track and hails from the fabulous Newinn Expert dam line making her a half sister to the likes of Newinn Taylor the superstar Irish Greyhound Derby Champion of 2020. Just the sole trial currently on the card of Wanderer in which she posted 1700 around Clonmel but so much more to come from a youngster who won’t stop improving for many months to come.
BALLYDOYLE EILE – Unraced August 2023 whelp with not a mark on her card she is a product of the mating between Droopys Jet and Ballydoyle Rossa making her a full sister to Ballydoyle Ross who is pencilled in as lot 1 on the Hove sale card. A hugely promising litter from whom big things are expected.
BALLYDOYLE MEGAN – Another unraced member of the Droopys Jet x Ballydoyle Rossa litter of August 2023 and again a young lady who has been showing massive promise during the rearing and early schooling stages. On the day sales trial will be of immense interest but again word is that Megan has been showcasing plenty of ability at home.
HOLLYHILL BOB – June 2022 dog by the superstar stud Droopys Sydney out of Hollyhill Tess who backed up a number of promising efforts when getting his career up and running last time out with a fabulous QUICK AWAY ALWAYS LED victory around Youghal in 2921. Type to land new connections a touch early into his UK career.
MISTER MYLES (EX – RADICAL ALAINN) – Exciting super early paced son of Burgess Bucks who is already a race winner on Irish soil and a superb one at that. Leading from the outset Myles ran out a wide margin winner at Youghal just a few months ago in a top open class time of 2869. A wide runner this lad is sure to be competing at a very high level here in the UK.
AMYS HOFFA – Unraced May 2023 bitch pup from the cross between Coolavanny Hoffa and Black Eyed Molly who was a UK open race winner over both four and six bends and is now a well proven dam with her offspring from her initial mating to Pestana already burning up the tracks here in the UK. Not a mark on the card of Amys Hoffa but she’s been showcasing plenty of ability on the home gallops.
ANYTHING WILL DO – Full unraced sister to Amys Hoffa detailed above and very similar comments apply about this stunning blue and white lady.
MILLROAD LILY – Experienced July 2022 daughter of Cabra Firmino who is already a three time race winner on Irish soil including when overcoming a poor start at Limerick in mid August to come from last to first and win pulling away in 2948. A solid grader who will no doubt pay her way and will stay any four bend trip in the UK.
DOUBTFUL HONEY – August 2022 daughter of Droopys Sydney out of Riverside Honey who of course is a daughter of the sensational Ballydoyle Honey and now a proven producer of open and competition class greyhounds in her own right. Honey has plenty more to come on the track yet but she’s already a race winner courtesy of a 2961 effort around Clonmel earlier this year and earlier this month she bettered that with a 2941 around the same venue. Gives the impression that she might well benefit from a fresh start to graded life here in the UK but there will undoubtedly be an eye set on a potential brood career further down the line.
DROOPYS ISABELLE – Another unraced member of the August 2023 litter by Dorotas Wildcat out of Droopys Alyssa and she too has been pleasing the team in her early schooling trials. Shouldn’t have any issue staying any four bend trip here in the UK and looks an exciting prospect who should improve leaps and bounds as we approach 2025.
DROOPYS ARTILERY – Reports from the Droopys team are that this lad could very well be the very best of their sales offerings this time around. This son of Dorotas Wildcat and Droopys Alyssa is just an August 2023 whelp and he has already been showing every indication that he is a high class sort in the making. He has had just a handful of schooling trials over the sprint distance at Kilkenny but he has been showing absolutely no signs of slowing up and he falls firmly into the ‘could be anything’ category at this early stage. Can only improve massively for both fitness and experience but will be much sought after on sales day and though he’ll not come cheaply class never does.
FREFFANS MALCOLM – Just the two trials on the card of this promising December 2022 son of Malachi out of Bay Ciara and if his litter mates to have already hit the track are a guide this lad will be seen to best effect over stiff four bend trips and possibly even further. Posted 2998 in the first official four bend trial of his life and plenty of improvement to come until way into next year. Sales day trial will be informative.
FREFFANS LUGS – A full brother to Malcolm detailed above and another from the litter who very much looks like he wants a good test of stamina even at this early stage of his career. Has looked green and in need of the experience in each of his five races to date but showed a hugely likeable attitude on his last start on what was a very heavy Shelbourne Park track. Well enough beaten but noted by those with a keen eye to be doing all of his best work late into the day. No surprise to see this lad leave his early form way behind him over the coming months.
GLENGAR CRAZE – The promise of this May 2023 son of Ballyhimikin Jet and Dolls Lady was clear to see in the very first four bend trial of his life when he recorded 2899 around Limerick. Pace to burn and a highly promising prospect for the UK scene.
GLENGAR KATIE – Full sister to Craze detailed above and herself posted a decent 2970 around Limerick in what is thus far the only trial on her card. Looks all set to enjoy a decent track career but further down the line she looks likely to make into a more than capable brood.
BALLINABOLA JEN (RESERVE A) – Lightly raced December 2022 daughter of Ballymac Best out of Ballinabola Mia who has produced some nice top grade and open class sorts in her litters to date. Jen is yet to win in five starts but can only have benefited from the experience gained and despite having been asked some very tough questions for this early stage of her career she has still managed to record a best of 2933 around Enniscorthy. No doubt at all that Jen will benefit from a fresh start here in the UK where she should quickly move through the grades.
EASY BRONCHO (RESERVE B) – Unraced June 2023 daughter of Beaming Rosie by Ballyhimikin Jet. Beaming Rosie is a full sister to top class bitch Swanley Chick and has thrown open class greyhounds in her previous litters.
EASY TIZZY (RESERVE C) – Just one trial on the card for this April 2023 brindle daughter of Tarastar by Grangeview Ten. Should suit the Hove circuit rather than her previous effort in our Romford sale in July.
